Th
e Voice' has taken over from Darren Day in the Flynn role.

He provides a more laid back, menancing persona than previous performers who have recreated the character.

He is reminiscent of Harvey Keitel's Mr Winston Wolfe from Pulp Fiction.

Russell's voice certainly blows audiences away.

On the Classic Fm Ultimate chart there are some interesting comments along with the artists chart positions, this is with Russell's album The Voice
at no 2
Russell Watson-The Voice
Russell Watson’s debut also gave the singer his official nickname - simply, The Voice.
As one of the music world’s first and most important crossover artists, bridging the gap between classical arias and a more operatic brand of pop, Watson’s influence is difficult to overstate.
His powerhouse voice flits across the genres effortlessly, and the result on the album’s initial release was an equally powerful sales performance, cementing Watson as a household name.
................................................................................................
and this is with
Reprise at no 25
Russell Watson-Reprise was the third album from superstar tenor Russell Watson and was released in 2002, soon after his stratospheric rise to fame. This album brought Russell’s trademark mix of classical favourites and lighter music – so on this album you’ll find Bizet’s Pearl Fishers Duet rubbing shoulders with ‘That’s Amore’, and ‘Recondita armonia’ from Puccini’s Tosca is alongside Russell’s interpretation of Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. A genre-defying album of great tunes.

The Titanic soundtrack has moved people for decades - and now the score has come top of a list of the best-selling classical albums of the past 25 years.
James Horner, who died in 2015, composed the soundtrack, which has sold more than a million copies in the UK.
It was named top of the Ultimate Classic FM Chart, the biggest countdown of classical music sales.
British singer Russell Watson claimed the second and third slots on the list with albums The Voice and Encore.
He's also the most popular male artist, with almost 2.5 million album sales.

Russell Watson & New Horizons Mission
Published on Dec 6, 2014
NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft comes out of hibernation for the last time on Dec. 6. Between now and then, while the Pluto-bound probe enjoys three more weeks of electronic slumber, work on Earth is well under way to prepare the spacecraft for a six-month encounter with the dwarf planet that begins in January.
New Horizons' will be woken up to 'The Voice' Russell Watson with a welcome message and rendition of 'Faith of the Heart'
6th Dec. 11.35a
.Russell announced this on his Facebook & Twitter
Exciting day today... I was delighted to be asked by NASA to be the wake up call for The New Horizons’ Spacecraft. It comes out of hibernation at 3 p.m. EST today. About 90 minutes later New Horizons will transmit word to Earth that it’s in “active” mode; those signals, even traveling at light speed, will need four hours and 25 minutes to reach home. Confirmation should reach the mission operations team at APL around 9:30 p.m. EST. At the time New Horizons will be more than 2.9 billion miles from Earth, and just 162 million miles – less than twice the distance between Earth and the sun – from Pluto. You really will be able to hear me in space today!

People's Tenor Russell Watson sings wake-up call for space probe headed for Pluto
   Dec 06, 2014 16:46    By Emily Heward
The voice of the People's Tenor will be heard further from Earth than any other human's before
From Salford working men’s clubs to the farthest reaches of the solar system, Russell Watson’s stellar singing career continues its
meteoric rise today after an out-of-this world invitation to perform the wake-up call for a NASA spacecraft headed for Pluto.
A recording of the People’s Tenor singing Star Trek Enterprise theme song Faith of the Heart will be played to bring the New Horizons
probe out of its electronic hibernation for the last time on its way to explore the dwarf planet.

In a message before the song, Russell, 48, said: “It has been a long road - a very long road, nearly three billion miles, I can hardly believe it myself
and nearly nine years since the launch, and your time is finally here.

“I’ve played this song to wake astronauts in orbit around the earth but never for a NASA spacecraft waking on its voyage to the farthest reaches of the solar system.
“It will be cold and dark on Pluto but you won’t be alone. You carry the dreams of explorers everywhere.

Russell was chosen for the honour in a poll of NASA’s members and his voice will be heard further from Earth than any other human’s
before when the wake-up call will take place at 3pm EST (8pm here) today.

A bit about Russell's song La Fiamma Sacra (The Sacred Flame) from the Amore Musica CD.

09/11/2004 :: Hardiman tops the charts again.

2004 has so far been an extremely busy year for Ronan, working on a number of high profile projects, the first of which, a collaboration with UK Classical/Crossover phenomenon Russell Watson on his new album 'Amore Musica' has just been released. The album has entered the UK Classical Charts at No.1 and the main UK pop chart at No.10. Ronan composed the song 'La Fiamma Sacra' (The Sacred Flame) with lyrics by legendary lyricist Franks Musker (Zucchero,Queen,Air supply). 'La Fiamma Sacra' was produced by Simon Franglen (producer of 'My Heart Will Go On" ,by Celine Dion) and is a stand out track on the album-a dynamic powerful piece which tells the story of Watsons own rise to fame and fortune from humble beginnings. 'Amore Musica' with 'La Fiamma sacra' look set to outsrip the astonishing success of Watsons previous three albums which have sold over 10 million copies worldwide.

RUSSELL WINS REAR OF THE YEAR 2009.

No bum notes for Rear of the Year singers
Rachel Stevens and RUSSELL WATSON have both won this year’s Rear of the Year for their shapely bottoms.
Former Strictly Come Dancing runner-up Rachel Stevens and tenor Russell Watson have been named the winners of 2009’s Rear of the Year.
The pair lifted the cheeky title after receiving a huge number of votes to win this year's Rear of the Year Award, which is now in its 27th year.
This isn’t the first time former S Club 7 singer Rachel has won awards based on her looks – she has previously been voted the world’s second sexiest women in an FHM magazine poll.
And she seemed please to lift her latest title saying: "I'm very flattered and I'm now going to insure each cheek for a considerable sum of money."
Russell – whose health has been under scrutiny in recent years after suffering problems with a brain tumour – was also happy to claim the accolade.
He said: "For the past 10 years it's always been about The Voice but, for the first time, I'm delighted to say it's about my rear. Winning the Rear of the Year Award is better than getting an OBE."
Award organiser, Tony Edwards, said: "They've both been high on the list of contenders for the past few years but this year broke through with amazing support.

Aug 2008
Katherine Jenkins and Russell Watson named the nation's favourite classical singers

By Stephen Adams, Arts Correpondent, and Joanna Corrigan
 26 Aug 2008
Katherine Jenkins and Russell Watson have beaten older rivals to top a poll of Britain's favourite classical singers.

The youthful duo beat established favourites such as Lesley Garrett, Dame Kiri te Kanawa, Luciano Pavarotti and Placido Domingo to be named The Nation's Favourite classical singers in a joint poll run by Classic FM and Radio Times.
Nigel Kennedy, the violinist, was also named best soloist musician in the poll.
Between them Jenkins, Watson and Kennedy have sold millions of classical albums worldwide.

Fellow DJ James Crick said of Watson: "The nation has spoken and this is proof – if proof was needed – that Russell Watson is indeed the People's Tenor. He has brought classical music out of the concert hall and into football stadiums and pop venues, introducing classical music to new audiences right across the UK."
Watson, 41, who first shot to fame in 1999 after performing Nessun Dorma at Old Trafford, was named ahead of Welsh opera star Bryn Terfel, who was placed second.

More than 30,000 people took part in the poll,
Darren Henley, managing director of Classic FM, said: "Katherine Jenkins, Russell Watson and Nigel Kennedy have brought classical music to the masses, with album sales that rival their pop counterparts."
Former factory worker Watson, 41, learnt his trade in the working men's clubs before his career took after after he sang at the Manchester United ground.
The singer, known as "The Voice", had a brain tumour removed in 2006 and had to have more emergency surgery last year after it was found to have grown back. After taking time out for radiotherapy treatment, he returned to touring earlier this summer and has also been a judge on the BBC show Last Choir Standing.

Pride Of Manchester award for
Mancunian of 2007

Despite nine personalities receiving nominations, the award for the Mancunian (or adopted Mancunian) of 2007 was almost a foregone conclusion. An astonishing 61% of the 1,935 members who submitted votes recognised Tony Wilson's contribution, before his untimely death in August, in making Manchester the city that it is today.

2) Russell Watson (275 votes received)
Another proud Mancunian who championed the city around the world, somehow finding time to do lots of charity work in between recording two excellent albums and suffering two brain tumours, Russell Watson had an incredible 2007. After suffering a brain tumour in late 2006, his album, 'That's Life' was delayed until March, reaching UK.4. After touring the UK, in May he sang the national anthem at Wembley ahead of his beloved Manchester United's defeat to Chelsea in the FA Cup Final. He performed for the first time with the Halle at the PFA's Centenary charity concert and appeared at many other charity events throughout the year. In October, during the recording of his next album, 'Outside In', Russell suffered another brain tumour and was rushed into Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle. He was lucky to survive and is on a long road to recovery. 'Outside In' charted at UK no.14 in November.
One member summed it up best when submitting her vote for Anthony Wilson; "I wish there could be two Mancunian's Of The Year Awards as both Tony and Russell are deserving of such praise. Both are such proud Mancunian's they'd be equally as honoured to receive the title as any other award they may have won in their past".
